Wedding Planning: One Year Away

Wedding Planning: One Year Away

Just six months ago, I got engaged to the love of my life and on October 7 made it exactly one year away from our wedding day which is October 7, 2017 taken place where we live here in Nashville, TN. I wish that I could have the wedding back home in Louisiana, preferably either in Baton Rouge or New Orleans, but it is more efficient for us to have it here in Nashville. So, yes ya’ll the wedding planning is officially underway! I can let you all know that thus far it has been both exciting and overwhelming at the same time.

Thankfully, I have a wedding planner here to assist me with some things, but since we’re still in the early stages of the whole planning, she has only been giving me input on what to do. Needless to say that the fiance and I are working to book the big items first, such as the event center to have our reception. Just this week, I met with the pastor at her church where we decided to have the wedding ceremony. Now, we are preparing to take our engagement photos on Sunday and I’m so excited about this photo session for actually a few reasons. The first reason is that this is our first ever photo session with a photographer. The only photos we have together is you know, using your mobile phone to take selfies together or individual pictures of the both of you. We all know that it really doesn’t count as professional photos when you are posting on social media random mobile pictures. The second reason, is that this is our Save the Date photos and some of them will also be inserted inside the invitations that are being sent to our family. The final reason, is hello Fall weather! My all time favorite season of the year. On that note, I’m so glad that fall has arrived on time here in Nashville. The leaves have been turning to those beautiful foliage and the leaves are falling. A perfect day to have a fall photo shoot in the park, and that’s exactly where we are having ours.

Other wedding planning details will definitely resume again come January and February. I’m so relieved that we at least have these two items of securing a church and a venue taken care of. In addition to that is that I have my wedding party squared away with my maid of honor, who is my cousin and four bridesmaids. I tried my best to find out from the fiance who he chose for his wedding party and best man (which I knew was his best friend) and he’s been kind of mum a little about sharing too much in detail. Not to mention that I was just being a little nosey, because the bride should know a little something on who he chose, right? I asked him to at least choose my brother to be one of his groomsmen, well because he’s my only brother, and my oldest brother at that. The theme I’ve chosen is titled Fall in Love while the wedding colors picked are burnt orange, chocolate, gold, auburn and ivory, so ivory will definitely be for my wedding gown. Thus far, everything seems to be moving along while I’m getting excited of getting into the fun stuff for helping to pick out decorations for the ceremony and reception. I will be posting updates periodically on how the wedding planning is progressing.

Stay tuned!
